Throughout the year, BAM presents a series of visual art exhibitions including Next Wave Art during the Next Wave Festival and rotating exhibitions during the spring season. BAMart also hosts special events such as opening receptions, talks, screenings, and more.

This year during DanceAfrica, BAM and The Museum of Contemporary African Diasporan Arts (MoCADA) collaborate to showcase works from Talking with Pictures, a youth photography education program sponsored by NYU's Africa House. The featured photographs were taken in April 2006 by students from La Yahoushua Secondary School in Accra, Ghana, and Norman Thomas High School in New York City.

The Sundance Film Festival's New Frontier program celebrates the convergence of film and art as a hotbed for new ideas and experimentation. With this sampling of New York-based artists from the New Frontier, Sundance Institute at BAM brings their interactive work to audiences on their home turf.

Leo Villareal: Stars

In honor of 25 years of the Next Wave Festival, BAM commissioned New York-based sculptor Leo Villreal to transform and illuminate the exterior of the landmark 1908 Peter Jay Sharp Building. This site-specific LED artwork is installed within the buidling's distinctive arched windows and is designed to resonate with the structure and the activity within.

Spring BAMbill Cover
BAM is pleased to announce that the 2008 Spring Season BAMbill cover features two works by Brooklyn-based painter Eddie Martinez. Martinez has exhibited worldwide with inclusions in recent group exhibitions at Blum and Poe in Los Angeles, Peres Projects in Berlin, Galerie Min Min in Tokyo, and Deitch Projects in New York. His second New York solo exhibition opens in March 2008 at ZieherSmith, where he has been represented since 2005. One work will be installed in the BAM Harvey Theater and the other in Dorothy W. Levitt Lobby of the Peter Jay Sharp Building throughout the season. Both are available for sale, with proceeds supporting BAM.
